Science Café

Thirsty for knowledge? Stop by the Steam Plant Grill for Spokane Science Café, a monthly open forum with area scientists and researchers in a casual, brewpub setting. This month Chris Copstead gives a presentation on Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Grab a beer, ask questions and wrap your head around some new ideas. Held the second Wednesday of every month. 6 p.m. Free. First Friday

Drop by The Spokane Club during First Friday Art Walk this month. In case the coffee, cider, cookies and famous Orange Rolls aren’t enough incentive, you’ll also enjoy the captivating paintings of Russian-born artist Victoria Brace, paired with the music of jazz guitarist Nick Herman. Dancing with the Celebrities

Organized by Christian Youth Theatre of Spokane, a non-profit, after-school, theatre arts-training program for youth ages 6-18, presents the second annual “Dancing with the Celebrities,” a fundraiser supporting CYT. Local celebrities include: Abbey Crawford, Robyn Nance, Mike Gonzales, Marissa Bagg, Cindi DeHoog, George Rohlinger, Alecia Warren, Jim Washko, Denise Leonard, Noel Macapagal, are paired with professional dance instructors and are evaluated by a panel of judges. 6:30 p.m. $20. Taste of Life

fourth annual event dispels the perception that hospice is about death and dying, and highlights the fact that hospice is about celebrating life. Taste of Life features beverages from Spokane-area wineries and breweries, along with unique culinary fare paired specifically with the evening’s featured drinks.
